EXPERIENCE REPORTS TRACK
SBQS
The Brazilian Symposium on Software Quality (SBQS) is the leading Brazilian forum dedicated to Software Quality. Software Quality manifests in two complementary and dependent perspectives: Process and Product. Given the current strong dependence on software and related services, research on software quality and its application to products and services has become both a necessity and a competitive advantage for organizations seeking to add value to their businesses.
Since its creation, SBQS has stood out as an important venue for exchanging experiences between academia and industry, where researchers, educators, and the Software Quality and Software Engineering practice community meet to present and discuss ideas, experiences, and findings with the potential to positively influence the software industry.
Aim and Scope
The Experience Reports Track is mainly interested in contributions based on practical cases, where approaches, models, techniques, tools, etc. that support Software Quality have been used in companies, generating new knowledge after its evaluation. Its main purpose is to bring to the SBQS audience experiences that can be discussed and implemented by other companies and/or considered relevant knowledge for future research on Software Quality. .
The report should describe the experience and the context in which it took place, and discuss the results and how they were achieved. When applicable, authors should also discuss lessons learned, such as what worked and what did not work, best practices, and other relevant insights. Scientific rigor in the description is desired but not mandatory.

Evaluation Criteria
Papers in this track will be evaluated considering:
- Adherence: the paper must describe an experience report that occurred in the industry (e.g., startups, software development companies, R&D projects);
- Originality: the paper must present an original experience not previously published;
- Usefulness for industry: degree of potential usefulness for other companies;
- Replicability: the paper must detail the context of the experience report (e.g., characteristics of both the company and software development project) to allow the replication of the experience in other companies;
- Lessons learned: the paper must highlight the lessons learned in the report, as well as the whole rationale of decision-making that may be relevant to highlight the aggregated value of the work;
- Technical soundness: coherence and consistency in the description and use of Software Quality concepts;
- Presentation: refers to the quality of the paper, including text cohesion, spelling, formatting, and readable figures and tables.
Important Dates
- Submission registration (abstract submission): June 22nd, 2026
- Full paper submission: June 29th, 2026
- First notification: September 4th, 2026
- Rebuttal period: September 4th to September 21st, 2026

Manuscript Preparation and Submission
Authors must carefully read the Instructions for Manuscript Preparation and Submission.
Important points for the Experience Reports Track:
- Submissions will be desk rejected without review if they (1) do not comply with all submission instructions presented in this call for papers, (2) fall outside the scope of the SBQS Experience Reports Track, or (3) have been submitted or published in any other forum (conference or journal);
- At least three program committee members will review all submissions. If the submission is accepted, the authors must consider the reviewers’ comments to prepare the camera-ready version of the paper;
- For the SBQS Experience Reports track, authors have the option of identifying themselves in the submitted paper.
-
- If authors choose the “single-anonymous review process”, they must present their names and affiliations in the submitted PDF file, and there is no need to anonymize supplementary materials that are made available from the paper (e.g., study packages).
- If the authors choose the “double-anonymous review process”, the submitted paper (as well as supplementary materials that are made available) must omit the identity of the authors. Both authors' names and affiliations must be omitted. For anonymization, authors should see the topic Anonymization in the Instructions for Manuscript Preparation and Submission.
To exercise impartial judgment, the track chairs cannot submit papers to the same tracks they organize. However, program committee members are allowed to submit papers.
Accepting a paper implies that at least one of the authors must register to SBQS, including the payment of the respective publication fee(s), to present the paper in person during the event, and that authors must provide extra files required by the organizing committee. Additionally, to speed up the publication process, authors of the accepted papers must fill in some forms requested by the proceedings chair on specific dates.
