CALL FOR SOFTWARE QUALITY RESEARCH TRACK PAPERS

SBQS 2018: XVII Brazilian Symposium on Software Quality

October 17 - 19, 2018 Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil

O SBQS

The Brazilian Symposium on Software Quality is the main Brazilian forum devoted to Software Quality. Software quality manifests in two complementary and dependent aspects: Process Quality and Product Quality. Due to the current dependence on software and value-added services, research on software quality and its application to products and services is both a necessity and a differential to provide value to organizations and their business.

Since its conception, SBQS has focused on exchanging experiences between academia and industry, providing an environment were researchers, educators and the community of practice of Software Quality and Software Engineering meet to present and discuss ideas, experiences and discoveries, aiming at innovation with potential to influence positively the software industry.  SBQS 2018 includes 3 tracks: Research Track, Experience Report Track, and Education Track.

Aim and Scope

The focus of the Research Track is high quality technical work describing original and unpublished results related to Software Quality. We invite papers describing pioneering research results in the area of software quality with an academic contribution. The papers may present conceptual, empirical or theoretical works. SBQS encourages the publication of the evaluation and analysis of the results presented in the papers. Results obtained by means of empirical techniques (primary or secondary studies), and qualitative or quantitative analyzes are welcome.

Topics of Interest

Submissions on all topics related to Software Quality are welcome. We are open to a wide range of topics, including (but not limited to):

  • Software processes, methods and tools
  • High Maturity and Statistical Process Control

Evaluating Criteria

Papers on this track will be reviewed based on their originality, relevance, technical soundness, and clarity of presentation.

Important Dates

Paper registration (abstract submission) deadline: July 09th, 2018

Paper upload deadline: July 09th, 2018

Rebuttal period: August 6-12, 2018

Notification of acceptance:  August 20th, 2018

Camera-ready deadline:  August 27th, 2018

Manuscript Preparation and Submission

All submissions must be in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) and must comply with the ACM 2-column conference (ACM_SigConf) format available at http://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template. They must be no longer than 10 pages, including all figures, tables, appendixes, references and acknowledgement. Papers must be submitted electronically through JEMS system (https://submissoes.sbc.org.br/sbqs2018_trabalhos_tecnicos).

Papers must be written in Portuguese or English. Submissions in English are strongly encouraged since the symposium proceedings will be indexed in the ACM Digital Library. Papers written in Portuguese must include an abstract in English.

Submissions that are not in compliance with the required format or that are out of the scope of the Research Track will be rejected without reviewing.

The review process includes a rebuttal period in which the authors will have access to the reviewers’ comments and may argue and answer questions from the reviewers before the final acceptance/rejection decision.

The acceptance of a paper implies that at least one of its authors will register for the symposium to present it.

Papers submitted to the SBQS Research Track must not have been simultaneously submitted to any other forum (conference or journal), nor should they have already been published elsewhere.

Best Paper Award

Every year SBQS awards the best paper in each track. The Steering Committee awards the best paper based on the reviews and comments provided by the Program Committee. Awarded papers are announced during the event.

Journal First  (English Version) - SBQS 2018

SBQS is partnering with the Springer Journal of Software Engineering Research and Development (JSERD) to incorporate Journal First papers into the SBQS 2018 Research Track.

Authors of papers recently published by JSERD and that fit the evaluation criteria, are being invited to present their research work at SBQS. This offers an opportunity for authors to discuss their work with the software quality community as well as to enrich the technical program of SBQS.

The following evaluation criteria will be used to select Journal First papers to SBQS 2018:

  • The paper must have been published at JSERD as: Research Articles, Case Studies or Review.
  • The paper describes original results that are not extensions of previous conference papers.
  • The paper was accepted to be published in the journal no earlier than January 1st, 2016.
  • The paper has not been presented at any other conference as Journal First.
  • At least one author per selected Journal First paper should register and attend to SBQS 2018 in order to present the paper.

Authors interested to present Journal First papers at SBQS 2018 need to send an email to the Program Chair Tayana Conte (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) with the subject "Journal First - SBQS 2018" until August 17th, 2018. The following information must be provided: (i) paper title, (ii) list of authors, (iii) the web link to access the paper; and (iv) a short statement on how the work satisfies the above criteria.
